Install OSL
It replaces your Discord desktop client. Same look, same features, plus encryption.
Your messages stay private from Discord, your network, and anyone else watching.

Choose who you want to talk to privately. Both of you need OSL installed.
OSL encrypts your messages before Discord sees them. The other side decrypts on their end.
X25519 + ML-KEM-768. Resistant to attacks from future quantum computers.
Your encrypted messages don't appear as obvious ciphertext on Discord. They ride inside ordinary-looking chat text — only someone with the conversation key can tell there's anything to read.
Your encryption keys never leave your computer. Encrypted at rest with your password.
On Windows, OSL hides its own window from screenshots, screen recordings, and screen-sharing — so a shared screen or a stray screenshot can't leak your conversations. On by default; turn it off anytime you need to record or present.
Wipe your keys for a channel, a server, or your entire account. Past messages become permanently unreadable.
The entire client is published on GitHub under Apache-2.0. Read exactly how OSL encrypts your messages — nothing is hidden.
OSL doesn't phone home. No analytics, no usage tracking, no accounts on our side.
Honesty up front. Encryption has limits.
Discord can see who you're talking to and when, even if they can't read what you're saying.
If your computer is compromised, OSL can't protect your messages — encryption only protects data in transit and at rest.
Voice and video calls aren't encrypted by OSL. Discord's own encryption applies there.
OSL modifies the Discord client locally. Discord's ToS technically prohibits client modifications. We're not aware of any bans related to OSL specifically, but use it at your own risk.
No. OSL recipients need OSL installed to decrypt messages. Anyone without OSL sees ciphertext.
All your encrypted history becomes permanently inaccessible. There is no recovery. Write your password down somewhere safe.
